Dec 19, 2020

The days of the year 2020 will shortly end, and so will the implementation period for the planned activity of the Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA). On behalf of the Board of Directors of CCARDESA, I would like to present our warm compliments of the season.

What a year it has been, both on the challenges we encountered and the initiatives we took to get around those challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic was a major obstacle of the year and came with no pedigree or precedence on how to handle it. The pandemic directly affected our staff as well as the implementation modalities of activities. Nevertheless, quick action was taken to adapt and deliver a number of key outputs for the region. Plans were shaken but not destroyed due to our timely adaptive responses that provided the required buffering capacity.

Our partnerships grew significantly during the year, which proved very crucial in moving forward the agenda of the region and forging the links beyond the SADC region. We thank our partners for their input into the success of CCARDESA during the year and in supporting the development of a brighter 2021 and beyond.

On behalf of the Chairperson of the Board (Prof. Castro Camarada) I wish all our partners a very merry Christmas and successful new year.
