Director of Technology Transfer, Commercialization, and Partnerships.
Dr. Sophia Kashenge-Killenga is a Principal Scientist and agricultural research and development specialist with over 20 years of experience in crop improvement, seed systems, and agricultural innovation. Trained as a plant breeder, her work focuses on improving crop adaptation and resilience to climate stresses such as drought, salinity, flooding, and soil nutrient deficiencies. She holds a BSc in Agriculture and MSc in Agronomy from Sokoine University of Agriculture and a PhD in Plant Breeding from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Dr. Kashenge-Killenga has held several leadership roles in Tanzania’s agricultural research and seed sector, including CEO of the Tanzania Agriculture Seed Agency (2017–2024), where she strengthened national seed systems and farmer access to quality seed. She currently serves as Director of Technology Transfer, Commercialization, and Partnerships at the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI), leading efforts to translate research into scalable technologies and innovations that improve agricultural productivity and resilience.
