Lorato Bailang has been working for the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security from September 2010 to date. She works as an Information and Public Relations officer responsible for Researching, producing and Presenting Radio Programs for the Ministry. The 4 radio Programs target different audiences i.e. the older generation and the youth; the programs are broadcast in Setswana and English, with an emphasis of equipping and finding solutions to challenges in Food Production, Management, Research and innovation. To ensure that the programs are a success, Ms. Bailang has built a network of Professionals from Research institutions, Government Vets & Private Vets, Agronomists, Farmer Associations and the private sector institutions to effectively engage in this issues. Ms. Bailang is part of the e-Government team in the Ministry, which focuses on information & knowledge Management. She is a content Producer for the Ministry Facebook and Twitter page. She has previously done some work with CCARDESA as a social media reporter at various conferences including, the General Meeting and Youth in Agriculture summit. She has also written and published some stories on the CCARDESA website. Ms. Bailang is an admin of two other pages; J Haskins & Sons and Temo-thuo Farmers group. Ms. Bailang has passion for youth Development and has been instrumental in the development of farmer organizations such as Botswana Young Farmers Association(BYFA), as a mentor and advisor. Her love of women Development has also seen her mentor young ladies in farming and helping to organize events such as Women in Farming Expo, which was targeted at bringing female farmers together to address issues affecting them and coming up with possible solutions.
