CCARDESA Hosts Virtual Board Committee Meetings Preceding the 24th Full Board Meeting

Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) is hosting a series of virtual Board Committee meetings today and tomorrow, 22nd and 23rd July 2020, respectively in which attendance is open to all Board Members as specified in the organizational Charter. 

This is the first time the Board meets in 2020 and the meetings are held under very extra-ordinary circumstances due to the global COVID 19 pandemic which up to now has been forcing entire countries to abide with social distancing practices.

CCARDESA Secretariat operates under the oversight of the Board of Directors composed of 14 Board Members and this board which took over last year is Chaired by Dr. Castro Paulino Camarada and the Vice-Chairperson is Dr. Catherine Justin Senkoro.

CCARDESA Board is constituted of 4 Board Committees namely: (1) Programmes Committee; (2) Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (3) HR and Governance Committee and (4) Finance Committee.

Board Committee meetings are thematic focused to attend specific interventions on the actions that were taken to implement both the resolutions and directives of the previous Board meeting and other relevant accomplishments and challenges.

Meetings of Programmes Committee and Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee will be held today followed by HR and Governance Committee and Finance Committee, scheduled for tomorrow. Note that the Board Committee meetings are preceding the full Board Meeting to be held on 24th July 2020.

CCARDESA Board convenes two Ordinary Board meetings every year, usually around June/July and December. When need arises, the Board may hold Extra-ordinary meetings within the year to deal with urgent matters that cannot wait for the ordinary meetings.
