The map below presents key trends in agricultural digital innovations operational in SADC at the time of the study (December 2021).
Further information can be found in the report.
CCARDESA is a key player in Agricultural Research for Development (AR4D) activities and wants to take the AR4D agenda forward by ensuring that digitization accelerates Agricultural Transformation through enhancing productivity and sustainability across all actors and value chains in agriculture and food systems.
The baseline study reflects the current landscape of national and regional digital AgriTech innovations, coupled with an assessment of a conducive enabling environment. Together this highlights information about these innovations, their use cases and distribution.
A more systematic understanding of these innovations creates the opportunity to exploit their impacts including enhanced efficiencies in reaching farmers, increasing agricultural productivity, improving farmer incomes and food security and in encouraging opportunities for employment from the sector in the 16 countries across the SADC region.
